Iced Coffee (2026 Recipe)

From Rochester Food Not Bombs Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This recipe differs from the 2025 recipe mainly in the inclusion of instant coffee to increase the strength. A lot of people liked our iced coffee last summer, but a few complained that it wasn't very strong. The inclusion of instant coffee may be something that offends some peoples tastes, though, so please do try this recipe (and maybe even compare it to the 2025 recipe) and let us know what you think, either through the usual channels if you're a member or through our encrypted Contact Form if you have yet to join us.

Why?

Why do we keep coming up with iced coffee recipes? For fun. I want to serve it and we don't have an espresso machine so I had to get creative.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 2.5 quarts of hot water
  • 1 cup instant coffee (maybe more? try it!)
  • Sugar syrup
  • Plant Milk
  • Ice

Instructions

Add the hot water and the instant coffee to an airpot for transport.
Fill a serving cup with ice
Fill the cup halfway with coffee
Squirt simple syrup into the cup to taste. Try to leave space for plenty of milk but some people want it very sweet and that's fine
Fill the cup the rest of the way to the brim with plant milk. Hold it over the ground when you give it a stir so it doesn't make a mess when it spills over the brim

Notes

The simple syrup is important! If you try to put granulated sugar into the now-chilled coffee, it will just leave grains of sugar at the bottom of the cup.

Almond milk goes over well. I also like to use a starch-free oat milk.
